The Black Barn is a contemporary industrial venue with ample volume and vast floor space. The Black Barn features a bar, toilets, two massive glass panels, overlooking the amazing garden, a big wooden deck covered by three old big trees.

De Rooie Gallery, is a spectacular, one-of-a-kind structure. Its singular rammed-earth walls were constructed from our famous red Kalahari sand, using age-old techniques that eschew the use of cement and other binding materials. This quintessentially Namibian building style is innately environmentally friendly and results in a captivating finish.

De Rooie Gallery is ideal for conferences, weddings and celebrations. The uniqueness of the building is astounding. This building alone will transport you beyond space and time.

The Droombos Garden is astoundingly beautiful.

Our indigenous Eden features two magnificent 500+ year old camel thorn trees, with expansive lawns as far as the eye can see. Aside from our prized indigenous giants, Droombos is also home to 100 poplar trees, 140 apple trees, a massive eucalyptus, wild fig and a fair number of cherry trees and wild mulberries.

We're also in the process of establishing a vegetable garden, lavender fields and a herb sanctuary. All of our gardens have abundant space for little ones to run around, making it the ideal option family picnics and long, lingering al fresco lunches.

Our Camelthorn Trees - Acacia Giraffe

Camelthorn trees are not unique to Namibia but at the same time are very uniquely Namibian. This National tree of Namibia is a protected specie and visitors should take note that these trees may not be damaged. Cut or chopped.

Camelthorns are found across Namibia including the Namib Desert and this is made possible by its deep root system that grows to a depth of up to 60 meters. Intelligence is part of the Camelthorns survival kit and it goes into self-defense mode as soon as animals start munching on its leaves. This they do by secreting a sharp garlic-like odor that turns animals off. The tree also warns other trees in the process.

Dried pods of Camelthorn are used in treatment of ear infection, bark in treatment of diarrhea and headache. Toothache, cough and tuberculosis can be treated by the root and gum can be used in the treatment of influenza. Seeds can also be finely crushed and used as a coffee substitute.

Our two large camelthorns are said to be more than 500 years old and we hope to have them around for many more years to come.
